Parent & Tutor Responsibilities

Responsibilities for parents and tutors as part of the BMCH tutorial and co-op are as follows:
Parent Instructional Responsibilities:

Parents provide direction and supervision of the homeschool program and maintain a portfolio of student work.

Ensure thorough, regular instruction in 8 required subjects (Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, Physical Education, Health)

Register as a homeschool student with the county of residence, and choose for the home instruction program to be under county or umbrella oversight
Parent BMCH Co-op Responsibilities:

Be an active member in the BMCH community.

Attend parent meetings and community events

Assist in making classroom materials (laminating or cutting materials)

Assist with field trips

Volunteer to provide additional enrichment for the children as time and talents permit
Tutorial Services:

Assist parents in implementing a homeschool program following the Montessori method and individually tailored for their children.

Provide regular communication with parents to determine direction of the instructional program in subjects offered by the tutorial

Assist parents with curriculum recommendations for subjects not offered by the tutorial

Assist parents in locating a homeschool umbrella or navigating county portfolio requirements (parent is ultimately responsible for maintaining the portfolio)

Facilitate social lunch and outdoor play daily
